Thanksgiving isn't a Holiday, it's a way of living!

(I started writing this post before Thanksgiving and I am finishing it after so hopefully there isn't too much confusion!) With Thanksgiving right around the corner I wanted to take some time and write a "thankful" post. Most days we hustle around doing the daily grind and forget to stop and look around at what a beautiful and blessed life we live. Being struggling newlyweds, college student, and starting out our little family we often get consumed by the "problems" we have. Which are really nothing more than minor inconveniences and truly they make us out to be slightly ungrateful. Yesterday was one such day when we were fretting over how to juggle everything in hopes of making finances, time, and energy stretch a little further, all the while we are sitting in our warm comfortable home, with full bellies, clothes to cover us and healthy bodies. We have so many conveniences that unfortunately many do not have. But by far the most important and greatest blessing we have is the knowledge of a loving Father in Heaven and of His Beloved Son and our Savior Jesus Christ. All things that we hold dear are only appendages to that knowledge. It is comforting to have all of our physical needs met but if those things were taken away we would still hold our testimonies so dear because they are the one thing that cannot be taken away! Well now that Thanksgiving is over I will give a run through of our events! Megan, Danny, Jeremiah (megan's boy friend) and Bryan all came in late wednesday evening. Danny had hernia surgery last week and Bryan was in a car accident on Monday so we had two injured guests. On Thanksgiving we all went to participate in the valley's 6th annual turkey tot! (except Claire and Danny) This was our first time participating and there were a lot of people that came out, it was chilly but really fun! Kasey caught the "turkey" and won himself a pie and also won the drawing for another pie! Lucky guy! After the race we all got cleaned up and started with the cooking. I was a lot more involved this year then I am most years and it was really fun! I will post our menu to show all the fun things we cooked! My favorite thing to make was the lemon sour cream! It was delicious! We had appetizers around 11:30 played some games and cooked some more and then ate our meal at 3. Dave, Tina and Adam joined us which made for a full, fun table! We had sent our turkey to be cooked in a pit at a neighbors with 20 others from the valley and it was delicious! Everything turned out so great and it really was such an enjoyable meal. We played some crochet and board games, ate some delicious pie, and ended the night with an intense boy vs. girl game of pictionary! (we let them win ;) All in all it was a practically perfect day filled with so much happiness, comfort, laughter, food, and memories. My goal is to live in a greater state of thanksgiving because I am so truly blessed beyond all deserving and I could never adequately thank God for His kindness and grace towards me and mine.
